The AQuTech group has been recently initiated by Prof. Gianvito Lucivero at the Department of Physics of the University of Bari (UNIBA), recognized by the Italian Ministry of Research (MUR) as Department of Excellence with the project QUASIMODO: Quantum Sensing and Modeling for One Health. The research activities of the AQuTech group are also carried out in the framework of the National Quantum Science and Technology Institute (NQSTI), the Italian Hub on Quantum Technologies.
Our research interests lie at the interface between quantum sensing and metrology, AMO physics, quantum optics and integrated photonics. The group is mainly devoted to the development of Atomic Quantum Technologies, with a special focus on Quantum Sensors using hot atoms such as optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) and Rydberg-atom-based RF sensors for several applications, from biomedicine to geomagnetism and space science. Active research areas include the integration of vapor cells with photonic structures for lab-on-chip atomic quantum sensing as well as the development of quantum enhancement techniques. We are the only Italian partner of INMAQS, International Network for Micro fabricated Atomic Quantum Sensors.
